In this image you can see a young girl holding a gun. She’s also holding bullets. The girl is very serious and she looks like she is waiting for commands. In the back you see other people with guns. In the left arm you can see that they have Colombian flag colors. The people are all wearing army fatigue. They are also wearing boots and hat. I see a young girl in the army. I feel very sad because I think that maybe this is a young girl that had to go to the army because it’s the only way that she can help her family. When I look at the girls eyes I can see that she look likes she’s proud and she’s ready for anything. She looks very prepare and confident.
Reading about this image I found out that this a teenage Colombian girl. She’s involved in a group name FARC. They kill innocent Colombians because they want to take over the counties government. I learned looking at this image that 6,000 children are believed to be fighting in Colombia. A third of these kids are females. Many of the kids are forced to join the groups. Some other times the children decide to join the group because they offer money.
The photographer took this image because he wanted to raise awareness. The photographer wanted to inform the public about the situation in Colombia. I think he took the photo that way because a young girl holding a gun is not something you see everyday. I think other people reaction when looking at this image is surprise and impress. I think if people look at this image they probably will decide to help the kids so this image is raising social awareness.
