Welcome! By Terry06

me‧di‧a1[mee-dee-uh] Pronunciation Key
–noun
1.a pl. of MEDIUM
2.(usually used with a plural verb) the means of communication, as radio and television, newspapers, and magazines, that reach or influence people widely: The media are covering the speech tonight.

sem‧i‧nar[sem-uh-nahr] Pronunciation Key
–noun
1.a small group of students, as in a university, engaged in advanced study and original research under a member of the faculty and meeting regularly to exchange information and hold discussions.

Judging by those two definitions freshly copied & pasted from Dictionary.com, I'd suggest that Media Seminar is where we would analyze different types of widespread types of communication, then discuss them to get different perspectives and an overall better understanding of whatever it is that that certain media portrays. Be it advertising, propoganda, or perhaps just plain entertainment.
As for my own piece of media, I've chosen to go with a Kool Ciggarette ad I found in a magazine. In it there's some hipster-looking fellow smoking a ciggarette, and it says something about DJ'ing. On the other side (it's a pamphlet kind of ad) there's a few pictures of some random DJ's and some more ciggarette advertising. I think the message in this media here is simple: Smoke Kool Ciggarettes and you too can become a famous DJ!
